He has inherited a passion for the sea from his family that includes brothers with long and varied careers as fishermen and divers. Peter has previously taken periods to work as a diver and deckhand to satisfy a calling to the sea inherited from several generations of sea life.
The "Creatures of the Giant Tides" collection has enabled him to combine his professional media and photographic skills with 'sea life'. This collection featured in the Australian Geographic magazine in Jan 2008.
In 2008 Peter also had another picture story in Australian Geographic featuring photos of a giant Boab tree and it's jourrney and transplant from the Kimberley to Kings Park in Perth. See gallery of boab journey in main galleries menu. In 2009 Australian Geographic ran a story by Peter called "Eyes on the Tides". In 2009 Photo Review Australia, the nation's second most popular photographic magazine, ran a five page feature on Peter's photographic art -"Creature Discomforts".
Peter lives with his wife, Rowena, and daughter, Grace, in a typical old Broomestyle house in Cable Beach, Broome. He has a 22 year old son, Jack, who splits his time between Perth and Broome.
He spends many hours most weeks out on the tidal flats of Roebuck Bay and travels regularly by four wheel drive, boat and light aircraft to remote areas of the Kimberley coast filming and photographing for television, industrial, advertising and photographic projects.
Peter has a longstanding involvement with his Broome community. More public achievements include projects that have helped to raise the profile of 'Broome culture' including:
